Covid-19 Update

Given the Covid-19 pandemic, the College calendar has been changed for the first term of the 2020/21 academic year and has introduced a two-week October half term break. This break is from Monday 19 to Friday 30 October during which time the College is closed to Learners. The College office will be open from Monday 19 to Friday 23 October (telephone/email enquiries open) and closed from Monday 26 October to Friday 30 October (telephone/email enquiries closed until Monday 2 November). From 2 November we are increasing the areas in which a face mask or covering is required to be worn.

AAT lecturer and Manager of Full Time Course

Salary: £22,484 - £34,917 per annum (depending on experience and qualification)

Hours: 37 hours per week

6 Months - Maternity cover

Start date: 4th January 2021

 

Closing Date: 1st November 2020

 

A day in the life of…..

The role involves teaching a mixture of AAT Level 2 and Level 3 students ranging from 16 to 18 full time students and Apprentices to Part time mature students.

Lessons will need to be planned and homework set and marked in order to monitor the progress of the students. The part time classes also include two evenings up to 9:30pm but time can be taken off during the day in lieu of the evenings.

Teaching takes 3 to 4 full days with 2 to 3 days available for planning, marking, requesting exams, dealing with parents (for under 18s), liaising with the Apprenticeships department, staff meetings etc.

 

Skills/experience required:

Examples could include: working with young people, experience of working in a particular industry, knowledge of Microsoft IT packages, teaching in a particular area/industry

Please list:

You will be dealing with a wide range of students from those that have just left school to mature students therefore good interpersonal skills are essential.

Experience of industry is an asset.

Good IT skills are essential, especially Excel.

Knowledge of the Google products including Google Classroom and SAGE would be useful.

 

Qualifications required:

AAT, ACCA, CIMA or ACA, ideally with a teaching qualification. 

 

Ideal attributes of applicant:

Examples could include: comfortable talking and engaging with young people, highly organised, enthusiastic, keen interest in a particular area/industry, willing to undergo further training and development, etc.
