Eastleigh College launches University Centre Eastleigh

Eastleigh College is delighted to have obtained official status as a University Centre today.

In a special launch ceremony attended by both internal staff and external partners, Eastleigh College has officially become a University Centre in partnership with University of Portsmouth (UoP). This  enables us to offer a range of traditional University-partnered Higher Education courses in addition to our popular range of Level 4 qualifications. Through this collaboration, learners who enrol on our HE courses will have access to facilities at UoP as well as enhanced education opportunities.

Eastleigh College was pleased to welcome Chris Chang, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Global Engagement and Student Life) at University of Portsmouth, to unveil a special plaque to mark our new status. Chris commented: “We are delighted that Eastleigh College has now been approved as a University Centre as it reaffirms the quality and the breadth of education provision at the College. We are pleased to be one of their key university partners in the delivery of education provision in Eastleigh and surrounding areas as we recognise that Eastleigh College is one of our key partners in the region.”

Pete Joddrell, Deputy Principal (Curriculum and Digital), at Eastleigh College said: “The College is rightly proud of its Higher Education provision that extends opportunities for adult learners across the Solent and Hampshire. Our strategic partnership with the University of Portsmouth has seen more and more learners benefit from a widening and high-quality offer. We are continuing to focus on meeting regional skills needs and we expect University Centre status and the launch of the South Coast Institute of Technology to further enhance our reputation for higher education opportunity and excellence”.

Paul Stannard, Vice Principal (Quality, Compliance and Improvement) at Eastleigh College, said: “Over recent years our work with The University of Portsmouth has enabled us to develop new provision and create more pathways to higher level study than were previously available. This has also been complemented by work in extending Access to Higher Education opportunities that enable adult learners to develop and demonstrate readiness for higher level study in a single year. Our HE learners are going on to do amazing things and we are proud of each and every one of our alumni.”
