The Eastleigh College Board and Senior Management Team have launched an ambitious strategy for the period 2020-24 that sets out the College’s priorities to see more learners, be more successful, more often.
How we are keeping our college Covid-19 secure
The College has remained open throughout the Covid-19 pandemic for many learners and as from September 2020 all learners (including those planning to attend at College House) have returned to a full high-quality education programme as per government guidelines.
Student-focused principal retires from Hampshire college
Eastleigh College’s Chief Executive and Principal, Dr Jan Edrich, is retiring following three decades working in Further Education. Jan started her career in telecommunications manufacturing industry before moving into education after the birth of her son. She has witnessed much change in the sector since her first teaching role, but has always strived to make a real and meaningful difference for all learners, an ethos which has underpinned each role in her 30-year career.
BTEC and Core Maths Results Update
Centre assessment grades will be communicated with all learners via email on Friday 28th August 2020. Where learners have already received BTEC level 3 qualification results, we will only communicate where a grade has been changed. We would like to reassure all learners that grades will not go down.
BTEC Results Update
Following the announcement that all A level and GCSE learners are to be awarded Centre Assessment Grades Pearson have reviewed the impact this may have on BTEC learners, and their grades, and will therefore be reviewing BTEC qualifications. If you were a BTEC level 3 learner in 2019-20, qualification grades will be reviewed and communicated as soon as possible should there be a change. No learners grade will go down as part of this review. If you were a BTEC level 1 or 2 learner in 2019-20 and expecting to receive your results this week your results will not now be released until the grading review has taken place. Find out more.
GCSE Results Update
On Monday 17th August, Ofqual announced that they will award grades on the basis of what teachers submitted. We will be emailing all GCSE results to learners on Thursday 20th August, the grade given will represent the highest grade awarded by the extraordinary assessment processes put in place to award grades this summer. National teaching awards recognise Eastleigh College with ‘Team of the Year’ and ‘Lecturer of the Year’
The Hospitality & Catering Team and Jules Vince, Teacher Training lecturer, have both received certificates of excellence from The Pearson National Teaching Awards. Their certificates for ‘Further Education Team of the Year’ and ‘Further Education Lecturer of the Year’ respectively provided a real boost to all the teaching professionals at the College at the end of an extraordinary and challenging term!
New courses launched to re-train 18-19s for high-demand work
Eastleigh College has launched a new range of courses called ‘Bounce Back Technical and Professional Qualifications’ to support 18 and 19-year-olds find work in targeted high-demand sectors like engineering, construction, and social care. These courses are free to applicants as part of the measures announced on 8 July in the Chancellor’s ‘Plan for Jobs’ boost for the post-Covid future. The College is now taking applications for the new courses.
2020 Exam and Qualification results update
Exceptional arrangements for sharing qualification outcomes and exam results. Due to the exceptional arrangements in place for awarding qualifications in 2020 and the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic there will be some changes in the way the College confirms and shares results with learners this year.
Still open and preparing for Enrolment Week
Eastleigh College is still open during office hours although our main reception and entrance on Chestnut Avenue is closed until 7 September. This is part of our commitment to ensure strict social distancing measures remain in place in all areas. Eastleigh College announces ambitious and collaborative ‘Covid-19 Bounce Back’ pledge
In a bid to support the Solent and South Hampshire’s economic recovery in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic, Eastleigh College has launched an ambitious and collaborative pledge which aims to benefit individuals, employers and communities across the region. The pledge has been developed with support from a numbers of stakeholders including business groups, employers, councils, schools and University of Portsmouth.
Pay your course fee in manageable monthly instalments with FlexEd
The College is delighted to offer you the chance to spread your fees into monthly instalments over the length of your chosen course if you are unable to pay for the full amount of your course in advance of its start date.
