Gas Assessment Centre welcomes visit from leading tool company

Level 2 plumbing learners have been treated to a surprise visit from Monument Tools, giving them the opportunity to experience a range of advanced industry equipment.

Nic Drew of Monument Tools dropped into the College to speak to Level 2 learners, show them the latest tools on the market and give an insight into how technology might develop further in the future. With such learners generally around 18 months into their training cycle, such presentations are both timely and useful as learners begin to consider spending a greater amount of time in work placements and industry environments.

With a rich history dating back 80 years, Monument Tools have grown to become one of the UK’s market leaders in plumbing, roofing and drainage tools, selling over 23 million products to date. They have further become one of the largest specialist hand tool manufacturers across Europe.

Monument Tools commented: “Monument Tools want to support the long-term future of learners and apprentices at colleges. We believe that colleges and the learners should have access to quality tools and equipment when learning new skills.”

Leon Wheeler, Lecturer in Plumbing at Eastleigh College, said: “It was great to have Nic from Monument Tools visit our Level 2 Plumbing learners. Nic showed the importance of having the right tool for the job by exposing our students to a wide range of plumbing equipment and a chance to win a set of custom named pipe cutters.”

It is a period of exciting development for the gas and plumbing industry, as new and advanced technologies have begun to infiltrate the market, creating a need for upskilling and specialist talent. Eastleigh College Gas Assessment Centre are proud to champion such change through an exciting new course in Air Source Heat Pumps, which is becoming a more sustainable and energy efficient solution to both domestic and industrial heating.
