Eastleigh College earns its place alongside national refrigeration experts

Eastleigh College is attending several high profile cooling industry events beginning with the Hampshire Refrigeration Society HRS2021 expo, followed by the National ACR and Heat Pump Awards in Manchester where the College and apprentices are shortlisted, and the RAC and IOR Awards in London where apprentices are in the final.

As a leading UK training provider for the heating, ventilation, air-conditioning and refrigeration (HVACR) industry, Eastleigh College learners, past and present, can be found at cooling industry events around the UK.

Pete Joddrell, Deputy Principal, Eastleigh College says: "Its great to hear that our past learners are having such a positive impact on the industry, it is a strong reassurance that what we are offering at the college has such a long lasting legacy on learners future careers. To our current learners who have been nominated for awards, I wish them every success, the college is proud to have you recognised for all your hard work and dedication."

Hampshire Refrigeration Society Expo

Visitors to the Eastleigh College stand at HRS2021 included apprentice alumni, sponsors and other heating, ventilation, air-conditioning and refrigeration (HVACR) professionals. Shaun Creech FInstR, Eastleigh College Assessor, for Refrigeration and Gas said: “It’s always nice to bump in to apprentice alumni and learn of their successes after they qualify from Eastleigh College. “

National ACR and Heat Pump ‘Training Provider of the Year’ and ‘Trainee of the Year’

At the National ACR and Heat Pump Awards in Manchester, Eastleigh College is shortlisted for ‘Training Provider of the Year and the following three Eastleigh College students are in the final for ‘Trainee of the Year’:

  • Gemma Weston, J&E Hall
  • Luke Haile, Lightfoot Defence
  • Ross Maidens, Cosham Refrigeration.

RAC and IOR ‘Student of the Year’

All eight finalists in the RAC and IOR ‘Student of the Year’ award category will be honoured during a special ceremony before the 2021 Cooling Industry Awards in London. This year’s top three entrants, will each receive cash prizes of between £750 and £150. The top placed student will be announced during the Cooling Awards themselves. The two students representing Eastleigh College are:

  • Gemma Weston of J & E Hall International
  • Luke Haile of Lightfoot Defence
