Hair and Beauty learners wow NHS staff with free treatments
NHS staff in the local area have enjoyed complementary treatments from our Hair and Beauty learners, as part of a dedicated December 2021 campaign to thank them for their work throughout the pandemic.
A total of twelve NHS staff members signed up for the year-end initiative, with services on offer including facials, massages, manicures, pedicures and haircuts. Learners from all levels of Hair and Beauty study were given the opportunity to participate, with Level 2 learners gaining first-time salon experience and Level 3 learners incorporating the campaign into their Wednesday afternoon commercial salon timetable slots.
Kylie Cole, Hair and Beauty Technician, said: ‘Getting clients in is so beneficial for our learners, as it gives them a chance to develop some valuable transferable skills. Aside from the treatment service itself, there are health and safety procedures to consider, aftercare methodologies and a strong emphasis on clear communication to provide the initial greeting and consultation as well as answering any questions and advice on self-care beyond the visit.”
The reception following the campaign has been glowing, with client feedback forms ticking the most positive response, ‘Very Good’, on all ten forms submitted. NHS staff member Alison Kilroy spoke of her experience with our Level 2 Hairdressing learner Falon Auld: “Falon listened to what I wanted, made recommendations throughout and constantly checked that I was happy. I love the finished result – a very happy customer. Thank you.” Another positive review stated: “Friendly environment, staff very helpful, will definitely come back.”
Campaign organiser Caroline Perrett said: “The NHS have worked tirelessly through these unprecedented times and we wanted to give something back as a special thank you. We have also decided to continue the free treatments to all NHS staff until the end of the academic year.”
