Christmas Fayre raises almost £2000 for Children's Cancer Ward

Event Management students have set a new fundraising record at their annual Eastleigh College Christmas Fayre, with all proceeds going to Piam Brown Children’s Cancer Ward.

This year marked the 10th anniversary of Eastleigh College’s Christmas Fayre, having originally been launched in 2013 as a means of enabling Event Management to apply all their training to a real-life event, while also supporting a valuable cause. Eastleigh College has enjoyed a long-running partnership with Piam Brown Children’s Cancer Ward during this time, having raised thousands of pounds across the past decade.

This year’s fundraising total of £1,963.50 was over double the amount raised last year, thanks to a strong footfall of 470 people across the evening. As well as a Christmas Market, with an abundance of trade stalls showcasing some of the best local businesses in the community, there was an assortment of activities and games that people could participate in, with the Santa’s Grotto and Mrs Claus’s workshop proving especially popular with families.

Gemma Braybrook, Course Manager in Media, Marketing and Event Management, said: “This year’s Christmas Fayre was truly something special, it had a bit of everything and the footfall was fantastic. A huge congratulations to all the hardworking students, especially Project Managers Heidi and Jordan, for putting on such a professional event and for setting a new fundraising record. It is always an honour to be helping such a worthy cause as Piam Brown Children’s Cancer Ward.”

Heidi is one of the Event Management learners who project managed the event. She commented: “It’s been really fun planning this Fayre. We’ve been planning since June and I can’t believe it’s finally happened. Everyone had a wonderful time.”
