Careers Festival returning to Eastleigh College

After a one-year hiatus imposed by COVID-19 restrictions, Eastleigh College is preparing for the return of our popular onsite Careers Festival from 7th – 12th March 2022.

This week-long event will provide learners with valuable networking opportunities face-to-face with employers and higher education facilitators. A combination of enlightening talks and career-oriented exercises are on the itinerary, with local business professionals representing over a dozen industries making appearances through the week. There will also be excellent hospitality provisions, including complementary tea and coffee, all day access to our refectory café and a special Careers Advisors Afternoon Tea from 14:00 – 15:00 on Wednesday 9th March.

Alison Murray, Team Lead in Industry Placement at Eastleigh College, said: “Learners always have lots of questions about potential careers paths and this event gives them a safe space to explore these questions instead of the perhaps more intimidating prospect of approaching businesses in an external setting. Many of these employers will be recruiting either now or in the future so for learners this can be a chance to establish a professional relationship with industry specialists.”

The week’s programme will begin with access to useful talks and resources from last year’s virtual Careers Festival as well as the opportunity to join the UCAS online Career Event. Tuesday will be the focal point of the week with the bulk of our visiting industry specialists onsite through the day, operating stands in our Learner Hub and refectory area.

Wednesday and Thursday mornings will feature CV writing workshops and mock interviews with members of staff (the latter must be booked in advance), while Friday morning will put a spotlight on higher education, with a special Southern Universities Network talk taking place from 09:30 – 10:30. Further afternoon guest talks will take place across each of these days.

Tracey McAdam, Head of Learner Support, said: "This will be an excellent opportunity for our learners to meet industry specialists and HE providers as well as listen in to many motivational speakers throughout the week. Careers support and guidance will be available as well from our specialist team."

A full schedule of our Careers Festival will be released next week via our social media channels. If you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us at BeBetter@eastleigh.ac.uk
