Staff celebrated in Eastleigh College festival

Eastleigh College staff have been celebrated with a number of awards and certificates to recognise efforts, contributions to education and years of service in the sector.

With a ‘festival’ theme shining strongly throughout the day, staff lit up our campus with a dynamic mix of styles and colours, including glitter make up, panama hats and more!

Stalls selling festival items were organised by the College events team, to ensure everyone had the opportunity to get involved with the theme. All proceeds from this will go towards the Event Management course and enhancing the College experience for Event Management learners in future years.

Food and drink was in abundance, with a special barbeque and hog roast on site, alongside a range of vegetarian and vegan options, ensuring there was something for everyone to enjoy. An ice cream van was also on campus with an assortment of delicious frozen treats for everyone in attendance. Live music was provided by local musician Calum Lintott, who treated everyone to a medley of popular songs.

Glenetra Stone-Rollins is an Engagement and Recruitment Team Leader at Eastleigh College and won the Award for Excellence in Achieving Development and Growth. She commented: “It feels really good to win this award – I feel surprised and happy. After all the congratulations I’ve received, it’s helped me realise the impact of everything I do each day. I’m pleased with how I’ve handled the rapid system changes and how I’ve managed to keep customer service operating consistently throughout this time.”

George Hibbs is a Computer technician at Eastleigh College and won an ‘Unsung Hero’ award. “It was really gratifying to win,” said George. “I’ve put a lot of work into my role and it feels nice to be appreciated in this way. I’ve enjoyed building relationships with colleagues across the College.”

Carley Avery is a Lecturer and Trainer in Health and Fitness and won the Award for Excellence in Innovation. She commented: “It was a massive surprise and I loved it. I’ve put a lot of effort this year into trying to enhance the culture of teaching and learning at the College and this makes me feel like all my hard work has paid off.”

Our Staff awards is always a highlight of our academic calendar and follows swiftly on from our successful Learner Awards last month.
