Eastleigh College welcome local employers for community breakfast

Eastleigh College are pleased to have hosted employers from eleven local organisations at our East Avenue restaurant for a special breakfast, as a token of our gratitude for their continued support throughout the Covid-19 pandemic.

Attendees were comprised of College partners from a range of industries, such as healthcare, education, engineering and accountancy, in addition to a handful of curriculum and senior management representatives from the College. Guests were served our popular Eggs Benedict along with a selection of Danish pastries and fresh fruit platters, all carefully prepared by our Hospitality and Catering learners.

Sue Lyons, Hospitality Lead at Eastleigh College, said: “We were delighted to welcome these employers to our restaurant, who have long supported learners across College in different capacities. Our learners diligently came in early to do a breakfast shift and looked after our visitors throughout. As a department, we look forward to future events being held in the College at our East Avenue restaurant.”

Eastleigh College Chief Executive Paul Cox gave a short speech welcoming visitors to the College and shared some of our recent developments, such as our new College Sanctuary status. The event proved to be a great success with the food being well-received by our guests and it gave them a chance to share how they navigated their businesses through the Covid-19 pandemic, as well as discuss their goals and ambitions for the rest of the year and how we can assist them with this.

Dan Wareham, Engagement and Recruitment Manager at Eastleigh College, said: "The pandemic has presented significant challenges to businesses from every sector and our breakfast event was an opportunity to recognise and celebrate the resilience demonstrated over the last two years and to extend our thanks to our employer partners for their continued support.”

With this being the first in-person gathering of this nature since before the Covid-19 pandemic, our Employer Engagement team are keen to organise similar events further into 2022.
