Jack considered all of his options and decided an Apprenticeship in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning played to his strengths and was an opportunity to earn while learning. Jack chose to study at Eastleigh College because of the great reputation it has for Refrigeration and Air Conditioning and he hasn’t looked back since. He adds, “The College is a safe friendly place and also has really fantastic facilities which are similar to those I use when I’m at work.”

Studying at Eastleigh College has been a whirlwind for Jack and has opened up a wealth of opportunities, while also adding successes to his CV. Jack’s commitment to learning and pure talent was spotted by college lecturers who entered him for the nationally recognised and prestigious industry competition, SkillFRIDGE 2017. Jack exceeded his own expectations and proved his capabilities when he competed against other apprentices across the country and won Gold in the finals.

Jack’s incredible achievements didn’t stop here and he continued his run of recognition when he was nominated for ACR Trainee of the Year, which recognises the achievements of ten aspiring engineers in the industry. Jack is immensely proud of his successes throughout his time at college and highlights, “I’m so grateful for the opportunities the college has given me to stand out from the crowd and demonstrate the skills I’ve learned from during my Apprenticeship. It’s going look great on my CV and has given me confidence in my abilities.”

The teaching staff have supported Jack in getting to where he is today, by giving extra tutorials where necessary to ensure he is equipped with the skills and knowledge needed for his future career, in addition to preparing for the competitions Jack was a part of. He highlights, “The lecturers have been so supportive and have always offered me help and guidance when needed. If I ever needed a hand with something, particularly with training for the competition, they were always on hand to help.”

I’m so grateful for the opportunities the college has given me to stand out from the crowd and demonstrate the skills I’ve learned from during my Apprenticeship.

Jack who is now in his final year of the Level 2 qualification shares what he enjoys about his chosen career, “What I like about this industry is that you always get to work on new and different systems which keeps it interesting. You get to meet new people to improve your knowledge of the industry. I want to keep challenging myself and move forward in my career and the College has supported me every step of the way.”
