What will I be learning?
You will learn:
Install, test & maintain Air Conditioning and Heat Pump Systems
Install, test and maintain refrigeration systems
Understand and carry out electrical work on RAC systems and components
Understand Air Conditioning and Heat Pump system installation, testing and
maintenance techniques
Apply safe working practices in a building services engineering working environment
F-Gas Cat 1 Certification
On successful completion you will be awarded a C&G L2 Diploma in Refrigeration or
Air Conditioning.
Why is this course for me?
The qualification requires a candidate to demonstrate a level of competence on
refrigeration or air conditioning systems. This is the QCF Level 2 in refrigeration or air
conditioning C&G 6187 and has 2 pathways that can be taken. The student will
choose either:
1.Refrigeration service & maintenance and installation
2.Air Conditioning service & maintenance and installation.
Candidates will build a portfolio of work based evidence, and be visited on-site at
least twice to demonstrate competence and be assessed on areas of service,
maintenance and installation of refrigeration or air conditioning systems. They will
also carry out various tasks within the college to prove competence to the College
assessors.
The course is assessed using practical and theory tests.
What do I need to sign up?
Relevant employment in the industry. English and maths at GCSE Grade 4/C or higher is advised.
Is there anything else I need to know?
This course is for personnel already working or just starting in the refrigeration and
air conditioning industries, looking to achieve the Level 2 qualification and demonstrate basic industrial/commercial competence.
Notebook & Pen. Any equipment required will be advised on enrolment.
You can study this course from 16-19 as a Full Time learner attending college 3 days a week or as a 19+ Part Time learner by attending either 2 evenings or one day a week over 2 years or 2 days a week over 1 year.
