What opportunities will this course give me?
The Level 2 award in Electrical Installations is designed for learners who aspire to build a career as an electrician, but dont yet meet the criteria for apprenticeships. Upon successful completion of the programme, you could progress to Level 3 Electrical Installation or an Electrical Installation Apprenticeship. You will gain confidence studying a variety of units and gain skills practising electrical installations in a simulated working environment. During your course you will have external speakers, work experience and industry enrichment to give you opportunities to gain work and an apprenticeship
What will I be learning?
You will study a variety of units and gain knowledge about electrical installation. You will also build on your practical skills, along with learning about basic inspecting and testing.
Why is this course for me?
Teaching is split between the classroom and the workshops and you will undertake short written assignments, exams and carry out practical installations. The course is design to prepare learners for the electrical industry by provide the foundation knowledge required to access the trade. With access to regular external industry professionals, we aim to improve learners employability and raise expectations. As well as this, work experience is a key element to the course, allowing our learners to access the industry to gain first-hand experience.

What do I need to sign up?
You will need Level 1 Electrical Installation with an attendance record of 90%.
5 GCSEs at Grade 9-4 including English Language and mathematics.
For internal progression, you should have achieved L1 in the relevant area as well as progressing your GCSE English and mathematics (if below a Grade 4) as well as demonstrating that you have upheld the college values.
You will require an interview with subject specialist staff to ensure you have a good understanding of the course you are applying for. Attendance and attainment reports from previous education will also be required.
Adult learners may apply for any of our full time and apprenticeship programmes and your vocational experience will also be taken into consideration alongside existing qualifications.
The programme is fully funded for learners aged 16-18. Fees may apply for 19+.
Is there anything else I need to know?
Steel toe-capped footwear is required for the workshop. Other personal protective equipment (PPE) will be supplied by the College.
Text books will enhance your learning; recommendations will be made at the start of the programme.

For learners aged 19+ the price is upon application only, and after receiving information, advice & guidance.
All learners enrolled on a full-time study programme are expected to attend a compulsory work or industry placement during their course. The number of hours of placement will vary from 35 hours through to 750 hours, this variance is due to the differing types of assessment on each course.
Learners should be aware that this is compulsory part of their study programme and work / industry placements will take place during the college week.
