What do I need to sign up?
This programme is suitable for 16 - 19 year olds. A minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade A*-C / 9-4, including Grade 4 in English and Maths is required. Learners may be able to retake English or maths alongside their main study programme if they have the necessary 5 GCSEs at grade A*-C / 9-4. For internal progression it is expected that you will have achieved a minimum of an A at Level 2 and have achieved GCSE English and Maths at Grade 4 or higher as well as demonstrating that you have upheld the college values. You must attend an interview and demonstrate an interest in health and social care and commitment to study. You will also require a satisfactory DBS check.
Is there anything else I need to know?
Additional costs incurred may include purchasing a relevant text book, stationery, memory stick and College polo shirts for work placements. There is a mandatory requirement for students to have a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check in order to attend work placement. This course is only for learners aged 16-18 (or 19-24 with an EHCP).

A pioneering group of learners who left school last year wishing to work within healthcare have now completed the first year of a unique Health and Social Care study programme at Eastleigh College that features a dedicated work placement at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust (UHS).
Unique course for tomorrow's healthcare professionals
An innovative and exciting Level 3 Health & Social Care course has been launched for Sept 2020. The learning programme has been developed in partnership between Eastleigh College and University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust, and offers a unique introduction to school and college leavers with a desire to work in a range of clinical healthcare roles including nursing, midwifery and occupational therapy. The study programme is the first of its kind, and is likely to be even more popular following the government's recent announcement of a £5,000 per year NHS bursary scheme.
