What opportunities will this course give me?
The course is designed to give students an overview of business courses available at Level 3 whilst gaining a Level 2 Business Diploma qualification.
This course can lead to level 3 courses in Business Enterprise, Media, Marketing and Events Management, Business & Logistics, Supply Chain Management & Business Administration. The course can also lead to opportunities for apprenticeships.
The course provides learners with the knowledge and skills that they can apply to any business setting. Learners will develop a variety of transferable skills that are essential in the workplace and are valued by employers throughout all business areas. Learners will have the opportunity to progress onto L3 study programmes above or choose a vocational pathway.
Building Talent Together
This particular course represents a pathway to further progression towards much higher level qualifications that are run by the South Coast Institute of Technology.
The South Coast Institute of Technology is a collaboration of five further education colleges and two universities. We work with well known employers to deliver industry-led courses which fill skills gaps and support the economic growth of the South Coast.
What will I be learning?
Topics will be delivered through classroom-based activities, lectures, independent research and participation in event and campaigns. This course will also allow you to carry on studying both English and Maths if required.

The course is delivered over 3 days and will include 1 weeks work experience. The course offers learners the opportunity to bring their ideas to the classroom and organise campaigns that they are motivated and interested in. The course provides you with a diverse variety of topics related to business in the wider context and will ensure you are ready and able to progress your career successfully.
Work experience is an essential part of the course and will provide evidence for your Diploma as well as provide an opportunity to develop vital workplace skills.
How will my learning be enhanced?
Your learning will be supported visiting business ambassadors, researching and working on real life projects, external speakers and offsite activities.

What do I need to sign up?
You will need 4 GCSEs at Grade 3 or higher including English and Maths.
All learners without a GCSE at grade A*-C or 9-4 in English or Maths will be required, as a condition of the programme, to undertake either a GCSE or Functional Skills programme. Therefore, if you enter a programme with a Grade 3 in English or Maths, you will be required to take English or Maths as well.
You will require an interview with subject specialist staff to ensure you have a good understanding of the course you are applying for. Attendance and attainment reports from previous education will also be required.
Adult learners may apply for any of our full time and apprenticeship programmes and your vocational experience will also be taken into consideration alongside existing qualifications.
The programme is fully funded for learners aged 16-18.
For learners aged 19+ the price is upon application only, and after receiving information, advice & guidance.
Is there anything else I need to know?
All learners enrolled on a full-time study programme are expected to attend a compulsory work or industry placement during their course. The number of hours of placement will vary from 35 hours through to 750 hours, this variance is due to the differing types of assessment on each course.
Learners should be aware that this is compulsory part of their study programme and work / industry placements will take place during the college week.
