What career opportunities can this lead to?

Students can potentially progress to the City & Guilds Level 2 Certificate in Floristry or the Advanced Contemporary Floral Design & Floristry. The college also runs a Flowers for Easter course in the Spring term.

What are the entry requirements?

There are no formal entry requirements in respect of this course. Please note that there will be no class on Wednesday 22nd November 2017.

What does this programme involve?

This short course will involve demonstrations of various floral and natural designs which would make beautiful seasonal gifts and/or decorations for the home, work and public places. You will then have the opportunity to make these designs.

Fresh, artificial and dried materials may be used.

Learners will gain more confidence in working on the design and construction of both traditional and contemporary work.

This is a non vocational course. However, a College Certificate may be issued upon request.

How is the programme taught and assessed?

You will learn through demonstrations, discussions, observation and practice.

What else do I need to know?

This course is suitable for anyone interested in arranging flowers and making natural decorations. The content will be suited to both beginners and those who wish to develop their knowledge and skills in more contemporary seasonal designs.

You will be notified prior to the start of the course what to bring to the first class. You will also be told details of what is being demonstrated. Learners will then choose from the selection given as to what they would like to make during the worksho

You will need to bring in some fresh materials to make your designs. Economy is always encouraged. You may use a range of materials - fresh, artificial and preserved. A basic toolbox will be required: floral scissors, secateurs, floral knife, wires, tape etc.
