What are the entry requirements?
This course is suitable for dressmakers of all levels, although you must have at least some basic dressmaking skills and knowledge in order to benefit from this course.
What does this programme involve?
This course is suitable for those who would like to learn the basic principles of flat pattern cutting processes using pattern blocks.
An overview will be given of the basic adaptations of tops, skirts and trousers, including dart transformation, panels, adding volume, and simple silhouette changes. Students will use provided pattern blocks in one size as a starting point. These can be resized.
This course is also suitable for ready bought pattern alterations.
A college certificate will be awarded on request.
How is the programme taught and assessed?
This course is taught and assessed through practical demonstration and hands on activities.
What else do I need to know?
Please bring along to the workshop:
- Dot and cross pattern cutting paper - 4M
- Pattern master/maker or similar larger ruler with right corner and curve
- Markers in a few different colours
- Masking tape
- Tape measure
- Notepad and pen
Please ensure your course is running before purchasing materials.
Students will be responsible for the purchase of any necessary materials relating to the course.
