What will I be learning?
This introductory course will teach learners how to professionally decorate a cake with sugarpaste and finish off with simple decorations. These will include a range of flowers, inlays, bows, draping and spring themed models. The course does has some flexibility, therefore, the tutor is happy to consider individual requests from learners.
Hygiene, and health and safety will also be taught.

If you want to build the confidence and skills to decorate your own exquisite cakes, this is the perfect course.
Whether you have a specific occasion in mind (such as a child's christening cake or gaining the tools for a new business venture) or are simply keen to explore a new hobby, our sugarcraft course is a wonderful way to expand your knowledge on baking and artistry.
Many learners go on to attend other courses following the beginners programme: it is the perfect kick-starter on to a new, creative path.
How will my learning be enhanced?
At Eastleigh, we place huge importance on delivering a learning experience built around you, the learner. Therefore, if you wish to cover something that isn't included in the core course material, your tutor will try to incorporate it. For example, if you wish to learn how to create a particular flower that hasn't been included, that wish could be accommodated. We do what we can to deliver the best, most valuable time at the college possible.

You'll be learning from an industry experienced tutor who has worked for many years crafting beautiful, varied cakes. She runs her own cake decorating business and is qualified as a chef with a diploma in Community Education. By taking advantage of her impressive experience, you'll leave the sugarcraft skills to create truly stunning cakes, both for loved ones and for potential sale.
The programme is flexible, and your tutor will always strive to tailor learning to personal projects.
What do I need to sign up?
There are no formal entry requirements in respect of this course. No previous knowledge or experience is required. This course is for complete beginners or those who have attended our Christmas Sugarcraft course.
Is there anything else I need to know?
Learners are responsible for the purchase of ingredients/materials necessary for the course.
For the first class please bring a notebook, pen and a pair of small pointed embroidery scissors.
