Successful candidates can progress on to Level 4 Building Services qualifications.
Candidates should hold a current level 2 qualification in either refrigeration or air conditioning. You can work with minimum supervision and have a good record of safety.
The qualification requires a candidate to demonstrate an advanced level of competence on complex refrigeration or air conditioning systems. This is the Level 3 QCF in Refrigeration & Air Conditioning City & Guilds 6187 and has 4 pathways; of which, one must be chosen from the list below:
1. Refrigeration Service and Maintenance
2. Refrigeration Installation
3. Air Conditioning Service and Maintenance
4. Air Conditioning Installation
The days are split in to 3 sessions starting at 9am. The candidates will study theory over 2 sessions until 4pm; this will then be followed by an evening practical session from 4.30 - 7.30pm. You will be assessed on areas of service, maintenance or installation of complex refrigeration or air conditioning systems.
Candidates will build a portfolio of work based evidence, and be visited on-site at least twice to demonstrate competence. The NVQ is about demonstrating the correct level of competence to your workplace and assessor.
This course would suit those working in the refrigeration and air conditioning industries, looking to progress from Level 2 qualifications and wish to achieve a qualification that demonstrates advanced industrial/commercial competence. This level is ideal if you are an experienced refrigeration, air-conditioning and heat pump systems engineer and have technical skills and knowledge.
Safety footwear will be required for the workshop activities.
