What opportunities will this course give me?
Eastleigh College will be working closely with employers around the southern region to support students by delivering collaborative projects and expert virtual teaching. Learners will have an opportunity to take part in study visits to local logistical organisations and ports and/or take part in virtual work experience.
In addition, collaborative learning among the Logistics Colleges in the UK will also take place. This approach ensures that students get a fully immersive experience, covering all elements of the curriculum and facilitating networking between colleges.
Once you have successfully completed your course you will be able to progress into work ideally with a range of logistic (Supply Chain Management) companies in the south.

Students will have the ability to work to towards a Diploma and /or extended diploma the second year 2 which can lead to more career and university options.
Why is this course for me?
The course is designed to give 16 hours+ tuition per week with 1 - 2 weeks work experience. This course is of a very practical nature with time being spent on gaining collaborative, logistical & administrative skills. You will need to allow time to work on your assignments and projects independently.
This work experience is an essential part of the course as it provides vital evidence for your projects. Your employers will ideally be those connected to logistics.
Global Business and Logistics plays a significant part in everyday life, ensuring the supply chain for all goods, products and services, reach the end user. This includes food, clothes, medicine (and just about everything else) being transported via road, sea, air and rail to their destination.
It is a sector of considerable opportunity for young people, providing an opportunity to develop a wide range of job skills and specialisms. These include: warehousing, supply chain management, finance, marketing, HR, international trade, data analytics and many more. In addition, every retail organisation has a supply chain, so this is an area where there are multiple opportunities for employment for young people who have a sound knowledge and understanding of logistics.
Choosing a logistics career pathway also offers many international employment opportunities - as well as all over the UK. There are a range of apprenticeship opportunities, professional qualifications and higher education programmes to support career progression in this industry, making it a world of opportunity.
How will my learning be enhanced?
Eastleigh College and working alongside other Colleges to support young people into great careers by combining vocational training with real world experience. The focus is on growth industries - for example, logistics, healthcare, digital technology - which offer many employment opportunities around the UK.
The training and education you will receive is designed in partnership with employers - for employment. Students have an opportunity to be involved in industry projects and develop enterprise and communication skills, to prepare them for work and life. Equipped with these relevant academic and vocational skills, students easily progress onto a higher-level apprenticeship, work and university.
You will have an immediate advantage when it comes to fulfilling your career ambition. Contacts with employers and real-life industry experience is at the heart of every College course.
Although you will be a Eastleigh College learner, it includes the opportunity to collaborate with students nationally and internationally, take part in national competitions, events and trips.
Why is Eastleigh College my best choice?
We are the only college in the south offering this qualification and we have have contact with employers across the south who can provided work experience with Business and Logistics. In the south, we have excellent employment opportunities with logistical companies dealing with transport, local ports, airports and rail along with warehousing opportunities.
What do I need to sign up?
You will need 5 GCSEs at Grade 4 or higher including English Language and mathematics.
You will require an interview with subject specialist staff to ensure you have a good understanding of the course you are applying for. Attendance and attainment reports from previous education will also be required.
For internal progression it is expected that you will have achieved a minimum of a merit at L2 and made positive progress to achieving your GCSE English and Maths (if below Grade 4) as well as demonstrating that you have upheld the college values.
First Diplomas - must be at Merit / Distinction. Those with a First Diploma or similar qualification must be in a related subject.
Adult learners may apply for any of our full time and apprenticeship programmes and your vocational experience will also be taken into consideration alongside existing qualifications.
The programme is fully funded for learners aged 16-18. Fees may apply for 19+.
Is there anything else I need to know?
If you would like to acquire Business and Logistics skills, which will help you to get work in the logistics field, then this course is for you. During this two year Business and logistics course you will develop a wide range of skills, which will certainly help you to enhance your job prospects!
The tutors who will teach you are well qualified and have a wide experience of business, commerce and industry. They will encourage you with your studies and help you to acquire business and logistics skills. Your lecturers will also help you to develop key employment skills such as communication, interpersonal skills and using ICT.
Central to the model is high-level employer engagement. Local, regional, national and international businesses help to design and deliver your learning as well as offering masterclasses, workplace visits, mentoring and industry placements.
A number of specialist logistics experts have been involved with the development of the new Logistics and Supply Chain Management qualification, ensuring that every element of the curriculum is relevant to the industry.
All learners choosing to study on our new Logistics courses will benefit from the employer-led focus and many opportunities to get first-hand experience of the industry.
For learners aged 19+ the price is upon application only, and after receiving information, advice & guidance.
All learners enrolled on a full-time study programme are expected to attend a compulsory work or industry placement during their course. The number of hours of placement will vary from 35 hours through to 750 hours, this variance is due to the differing types of assessment on each course.
Learners should be aware that this is compulsory part of their study programme and work / industry placements will take place during the college week.
