What opportunities will this course give me?

This programme is multi-skilled, focusing on individual and group enterprise activities and is designed to assist, empower and support successful development and progression for those who have not achieved their full potential. Successful completion can result in further study on any suitable Level 2 or Level 3 programme at the College.

What will I be learning?

You will study Functional Skills Level 2 or GCSE Maths and English alongside the Level 2 BTEC Work Skills programme offering a range of qualifications to match the individuals work ethic, abilities and attendance.

All students without an A*-C or 9-4 grade in English or Maths will be required, as a condition of the programme, to undertake either a GCSE or Functional Skills programme.

Why is this course for me?

Your continually developing skills will evolve through a mixture of lessons, demonstrations, assignments and practical tasks that will be assessed as part of set practical activities which will be supported by reflective assignment reports produced within deadlines and independent assessments.

What do I need to sign up?

You will be working confidently towards Level 2 or 3 and will have already achieved Functional Skills at Level 1 or hold a GCSE Grade D /3 or higher in Maths and English. In addition, you will need to successfully complete an interview with a member of the team and be ready and motivated to progress towards Level 2 self-paced study.

Is there anything else I need to know?

Level 2 Enterprise Skills is designed to assist 16 - 18 year olds who are struggling to engage in a full-time career programme of their own choosing. This programme is suitable for individuals who have not met the entry requirement for their chosen programme; are unsure of their future career path or who need time to upgrade their current maths and English qualification for future study.

Cohorts for Level 2 Enterprise Skills for Work are set at between 14 - 18 and supported by a tutor. The programme is flexible and varied to maintain focus upon an enterprise project with learners working independently or as part of a small team. As part of the programme you will be required to offer a service within the community either as an individual or as part of the team.

This programme is specifically run with the intention of including a number of weekend market days or promotional events which students must attend to promote their individual project items and a number of off-site visits within the local business community.

To enable the safety of the students, it may be necessary to purchase appropriate clothing or footwear for use in the workshop or any other off-site work experience.
