What opportunities will this course give me?
This programme is ideal for those individuals who want to build on their electrical installation knowledge in order to gain employment in the industry, or for those who wish to undertake an Electrical Installation Apprenticeship.
What will I be learning?
You will study a variety of units and improve your knowledge about electrical installation. You will also build on your practical skills, along with undertaking in-depth inspecting, testing, fault finding and rectification.
Why is this course for me?
Teaching will be conducted in the classroom and in the workshops, and you will undertake short written assignments and carry out practical installations.
Attendance in the College is 15 hours per week. It is expected that time will be spent on assignments, research and homework outside of timetabled classes.
What do I need to sign up?
Level 2 Electrical Installation and 5 GCSEs at grade A*-C / 9-4 including English and Maths or equivalent Functional Skills. You will also be required to sit BKSB assessments and diagnostic testing.
You will need to undertake a successful interview in college, demonstrating interest and commitment to study.
All students without GCSEs at grade A*-C / 9-4 in English or Maths will be required, as a condition of the programme, to undertake either a GCSE or Functional Skills programme.
Is there anything else I need to know?
Steel toe-capped footwear is required for the workshop. Other personal protective equipment (PPE) will be supplied by the College.
Text books will enhance your learning; recommendations will be made at the start of the programme.
