Covid-19 Update

Given the Covid-19 pandemic, the College calendar has been changed for the first term of the 2020/21 academic year and has introduced a two-week October half term break. This break is from Monday 19 to Friday 30 October during which time the College is closed to Learners. The College office will be open from Monday 19 to Friday 23 October (telephone/email enquiries open) and closed from Monday 26 October to Friday 30 October (telephone/email enquiries closed until Monday 2 November). From 2 November we are increasing the areas in which a face mask or covering is required to be worn.

The Learning Centre

The Learning Centre team are friendly, knowledgable and available to provide advice and assistance with all your learning needs. We aim to provide a welcoming environment to complement all forms of study. Please ask at the Loans Desk if you require any help or wish to pass on any feedback.

Resources to help you study

The Learning Centre provides resources to support all courses taught at Eastleigh College and are reviewed annually. All facilities are available to all students and information can be accessed via a wide range of media:

  • Over 11,000 books
  • Online databases and eBooks available 24/7 through the Learning Centres Google Classroom page
  • 37 Magazine and Journal titles
  • Internet access
  • Google Classroom and the Student Intranet

As well as information to support your studies the Learning Centre also provides:

  • Wifi access
  • A wide range of Film DVDs 
  • A large variety of fiction and biographies in our ‘Reading Collection’
  • Music CDs
  • Headphones
  • iPads 
  • Phone chargers
  • Careers and Higher Education information
  • Stationary supplies, which are available to buy

There are also facilities for scanning, printing and photocopying. 

PC Access

There are 82 computers in the Learning Centre, fully equipped with the latest software. Some PCs are loaded with specialist software, please check at the Loans Desk. In total we have the following PCs available for your usage:

  • 54 available for drop-in
  • 14 bookable PCs for silent and quiet study
  • 14 bookable PCs within a silent study room

Study Areas

There are several areas of tables for group study and smaller areas tucked away amongst the shelving for self study. These areas are ideal if you wish to use your own device, especially laptops, tablets and phones, or iPads are available to loan from the Loans Desk.

You will also find clusters of soft seating in the Learning Centre for a more relaxed form of studying.
