What do you offer?

For school leavers Eastleigh College specialises in practical, highly respected qualifications that combine the classroom theory and hands-on learning that employers value. This is offered within a classroom setting (Full-Time), or via a mix of paid work and classroom learning (Apprenticeship). For more information on the types of courses available please click here.

Where is the college?

We are located on Chestnut Avenue in Eastleigh, which is easily accessible from all road and rail routes in and out of Hampshire. 

Do you do A-Levels? 

We do not offer A-Levels, however we do offer an extensive range of Level 3 courses, which are equivalent to 3x A-Levels. In adddition to learners normal studies, these courses also offer a range of additional benefits, which include work-experience, industry exposure and transferrable skills.

Can I still go to University if I study a vocational course? 

Yes, the majority of our Level 3 courses do carry UCAS points so learners will still have the opportunity to apply for university.  We also offer a range of courses specifically designed to help mature students gain entry into university.

What is an Apprenticeship?

An Apprenticeship is a fixed term job, with an accompanying skills development programme, which has been designed by employers in the sector that the Apprenticeship relates to.

What are professional and technical courses?

Professional and technical courses have been developed in partnership with employers, in order to ensure that students learn the skills that are relevant for their industry. This type of study allows students to learn the technical and professional skills which will prove to employers that they are work-ready.

Do you have a travel bursary?

We have a variety of bursary’s available to eligible students, including help with travel costs.

Is there an application deadline?

We do not have a set application deadline, however we do suggest that if you are applying for a course starting next September, ideally you should submit your application between September and December of the year before. This will ensure you are able to attend admissions interviews and that you have the best chance of securing your first choice of course.

What happens next?

When we have received your application we will contact you by email to invite you to an interview. 

The interview usually lasts no longer than one hour. Some courses may ask you to bring a portfolio of work, or a written personal statement about why you wish to pursue a career in your chosen industry. It is also useful if you bring along your most recent school report and predicted grades.

Can you apply for more than one course?

Yes, if you have not made a decision on what course you would like to study you may list more than one on your application form. We have a careers adviser at the college, who will be more than happy to go through your choices with you. 

Can I attend their interview?

Yes, learners can bring someone with them, but there may be parts of the interview that they will have to do by themself. We are always happy to welcome parents or careers.

Do they need to wear my school uniform to their interview?

No. Learners can wear either their casual clothes, or uniform if they wish.

Enrolments days take place in late August or early September of the year the learner will begin at college. They will need their GCSE results and qualifications to enrol on their course. We will write to them confirming the day, date and time that they are due in.

Can you apply to Eastleigh College if you live outside of the EU?

Yes, fees may differ according to where you are ordinarily resident.

Do you offer student accommodation?

Only for one specialist course.

When will they hear about their college interview?

Our admissions team will contact your son or daughter by email once their application has been received. We aim to invite learners in for an interview within six weeks of their application. 

Where can they find out more about university courses, apprenticeships and careers?

From our in-house careers advisor, their tutor or a member of the learner mentor team.

What size are the classes?

Most classes are between 12 and 25 students.

What will their timetable look like? 

Their timetable will be quite different from school. Depending on the course they choose, they could be in college between two and five days per week (approximately 16 hours, including work experience and other college related activities).
