She says, "I saw far more benefits in gaining real world experience to kick start my journey into the working world. My decision to study AAT has been one of the best I’ve ever made. It give me a different perspective on the world, and enhanced my confidence & interpersonal skills."
Justin was an apprentice CAD Technician at an Architectural firm while studying Built Environment at College. He is now studying Civil Engineering at Bristol University, and has plans to work on large-scale, national engineering projects when he graduates.
He says, "I never thought I could go this far, I’m so proud to have achieved the grades and to be going on to study at University. If you want something enough, work hard and you will get there."
Steph studied Level 3 Health and Social Care before going to University to study Adult Nursing. She now works at Winchester Hospital as a Staff Nurse.
She says, "My course gave me excellent experience, and with each new job opportunity I am in the position to progress higher in my career."
While studying Level 3 Engineering, Jordon decided he wanted to specialise in electronics. After finishing his course he went to Warsash Maritime Academy to train as an Electro-technical Engineer, and now works in the Navy fixing electrical components on ships.
He says, "Working on ships is challenging as you have to use your initiative to get something fixed. But if you work hard you could open up many opportunities for yourself in the future."
Henry, Peter and Lee
Henry, Peter and Lee all studied Level 2 and Level 3 Carpentry and currently work as Carpenters. Now qualified, they come to College one day a week to study an additional course - the Level 4 HNC in Built Environment.
Peter says, "The HNC will give me a broader spectrum of knowledge of the whole construction process, not just carpentry... eventually I wanted to move into management or start my own business."
