A traineeship is a training programme which combines work experience with college-based learning. Its aim is to help prepare you for an Apprenticeship or a full time job, by teaching you the basic skills required for the role and introducing you to a workplace environment. Traineeships are a great option if you’ve been out of work or college for a little while, or were previously unsuccessful in applying for apprenticeships.
To apply for a traineeship, you must be:
- Aged 16-24
- Eligible to work in England
- Qualified below level 3
- Unemployed, and have little work experience
During a Traineeship you won’t get paid, but you’ll get work experience and skills training required to enter employment. You will also receive support with English and maths. Enthusiasm to learn is essential!
At Eastleigh College, each Traineeship is 10 weeks long and is structured in the following format:
- Week 1: College Mon-Fri
- Week 2: College Mon-Weds, work experience Thurs-Fri
- Weeks 3-10: Work experience 4 days a week, day release to college 1 day a week
Our next cohorts are booked to start on the following dates:
- 18th April
- 9th May
