What opportunities will this course give me?
The college offers a number of other textile courses, please browse the website for further details.
What will I be learning?
This one day workshop will cover the basic skills, to include:
How to read and understand commercial knitting pattern
This one day workshop is ideal for anyone with no prior knowledge of the craft. The workshop will cover all of the essential elements for you to begin your journey in knitting. The course is also ideal for those with limited skills or those of you who have been away from knitting and would like to brush up on your skills with tuition at hand.
A certificate will be awarded on request.
Why is this course for me?
There will be some demonstration but the course is mainly practical. Stitches will be explored, students will learn how to follow a knitting pattern and will begin a small project. The aim is for everyone to complete a pair of knitted fingerless mittens by the end of the workshop.
What do I need to sign up?
There are no formal entry requirements for this one day workshop. Beginners are welcome, however any experience (however little) is always a bonus.
Is there anything else I need to know?
Please bring one pair of 8.00mm needles, one ball of Chunky Double Knitting (DK) yarn/wool, one ball of contrasting colour wool to make embellishments such as knitted flowers (this is completely optional), pen and paper, a flask/light refreshments.
Students are responsible for the cost of their own wool and needles.
