What are the entry requirements?

No entry requirements in respect of this course; it is suitable for anyone who owns a sewing machine and has an interest in learning how to use it.

What does this programme involve?

This course will allow you to gain knowledge on the different functions of your sewing machine and how to do your own simple maintenance to keep it in good working order.

You will create a portfolio of samples to use for future reference.

How is the programme taught and assessed?

The course will be taught through practical demonstrations and hands on activities.

What else do I need to know?

Please bring your sewing machine, sewing machine manual, and all the feet you have. You also need to bring fabric samples to work on, some cotton fabric (calico or similar), and some stretch fabric; sewing thread; shirring elastic; a zip of any length; notebook and pen; and a simple sewing kit to include pins, needles and scissors.

Please also bring a light lunch/refreshments as there are no catering facilities on college premises on a Saturday.

Students are responsible for the purchase of materials relevant to the course.
