This is a course designed to assist students with their chosen hobby. College offers a wide range of art and photography courses that students may wish to attend, please browse the website for details.

What are the entry requirements?

There are no formal entry requirements in respect of this course; however students need prior experience of picture framing and ideally will have attended the college's Picture Framing course.

What does this programme involve?

Students attending this course will learn how to:
- Apply principles of design and colour theory to a variety of framing tasks.
- Safely and accurately cut double, oval and multiple aperture mounts.
- Explain techniques to decorate mountboard.
- Categorise frame moulding types and identify hand finishing techniques.
- Distinguish and recommend appropriate glazing options and framing techniques.
- Identify the purpose of, and understand the use of, professional framing equipment.
- Plan a layout, and list equipment required for, an effective Picture Framing workshop.
- Compile a formula for pricing a picture framing job.

How is the programme taught and assessed?

You will learn by demonstration and supervised practical work.

What else do I need to know?

Please bring pen, paper and eraser, plus a small picture you would like to frame (no bigger than A4).

Students will be responsible for the cost of materials as used. One or two inexpensive tools will be of help; tutor will advise on the Picture Framing course.
