What opportunities will this course give me?

For some learners this course will provide a basis for further study or a move into working with local societies on their volunteering programmes as well as stimulating an interest in the wider subject.

What will I be learning?

This online course looks at all aspects of UK and World Archaeology including practical aspects, recent finds, research and developments. It will have one core subject per term which will deepen your knowledge of a particular aspect of the broad subject that is archaeology.

A college certificate will be awarded on request.

Please note that this course is taught completely online via Microsoft Teams. You will be provided with a college email account to enable you to set up a college MS Teams account. Full details regarding this will be provided upon enrolment.

Why is this course for me?

You will learn by looking at examples of new and old archaeological research from across the world, examining the projected theories and looking at alternatives.

As well as being a member of other relevant archaeological and historical groups, the tutor is a member and Chairman of the Winchester Archaeological Rescue Group (WARG). From his first dig in 1975, he has continued to enjoy and indulge in his passion for archaeology and history.

The tutor has given talks and has written several books, pamphlets, and papers on Archaeology and History.

He continues to learn through reading, studying and attending symposiums.

What do I need to sign up?

There are no formal entry requirements for this course; this course is suitable for adults wishing to extend their knowledge of Archaeology.

Is there anything else I need to know?

The only resource required is an open and enquiring mind! However, pen and paper will also be useful.

There may be additional costs associated with the cost of visiting museums.
