What career opportunities can this lead to?

For some students this course will provide a basis for further study or a move into working with local societies on their volunteering programmes as well as a stimulating an interest in the wider subject.

What are the entry requirements?

There are no formal entry requirements for this course; this course is suitable for adults wishing to extend their knowledge of Archaeology.

What does this programme involve?

Areas to be covered include Practical Archaeology from site selection to the lab and beyond, and Maritime Archaeology, its not just wrecks! There is no formal qualification or assessment.

This will include an appreciation of the breadth of Archaeology, how to look at the landscape, surveying a site, digging and onto site recording and finds processing. With Maritime Archaeology we will look at the definition as well as looking at key sites and developments.

How is the programme taught and assessed?

You will learn by seeing how Archaeologists work, share in practical sessions as well as analysing existing research and processes. The sessions should be informative, practical and fun.

What else do I need to know?

The only resource required is an open and enquiring mind! However, pen and paper will also be useful.

There may be additional costs associated with the cost of visiting museums.
