What opportunities will this course give me?
This Wet Felting course for beginners offers a new and exciting opportunity to learn an age old skill used through craft making and clothing throughout the centuries. This is a very hands on course with lots of opportunities to grow and develop your new found skills. This could be in the form of a new hobby - you can create ornaments, vases, bowls and cups, as well as items of clothing, decorations and pieces of art. The possibilities really are endless! You can create items for yourself, as a gift or start selling at local craft markets.
What will I be learning?
The course will cover the basic way of felting wool using the 'wet' style of felting. This is a very fun technique and tactile process. You will learn a skill that can be used at home and is a stepping stone to creating your own unique projects, gifts and decorations.
There will be a chance to create a flat piece of work, usually a coaster or mat, and then a more advanced piece in 3D form such as a bowl or cup that you can take home at the end of the day.
Why is this course for me?
This course is taught and assessed through practical demonstration and hands on activities.
How will my learning be enhanced?
As this is the basic line of 'how to felt', once you have mastered this you can learn more technical ways in which to create 3D objects, embellish using needle techniques or even design into clothing.
What do I need to sign up?
This course is completely suitable for beginners or those who have tried felting before. This is a course to explore wet felting and it's diversity, with the opportunity to create something to take home. All you need is to be open to trying and learning a new skill. But above all, you have fun and enjoy the experience.
Is there anything else I need to know?
This will be a wet process. Your hands will be in water and wet for the majority of the workshop. Therefore, if you suffer from any form of skin irritation or dryness, it may be best to bring some gloves or moisturiser on the day.
All materials will be provided for your workshop. There are no other costs anticipated in respect of this course.
