What opportunities will this course give me?
Students may wish to attend other creative courses offered by the college - please browse the website.
What will I be learning?
Learn how to make candles with an experienced candle-maker on our one-day introductory workshop. You will be taught how to create scented and coloured candles using soy wax either for yourself or as a gift for family and friends.
You will learn hands-on how to make candles of your own, using essential oils and dye colours.
A college certificate is awarded on request.
Why is this course for me?
You will learn from guided practice and demonstration.
What do I need to sign up?
There are no formal entry requirements in respect of this course; it is perfect for complete beginners who want to learn how to make beautiful candles.
Is there anything else I need to know?
Please wear suitable clothing for the activity and comfortable closed toe footwear.
Please bring 4 or 5 recycled glass jars (maximum size 454g - a standard sized jam jar). Smaller jars such as Mustard, Bonne Maman, Pesto, or Cream Caramel jars are the perfect size. Alternatively, you can use small drinking glasses, tea cups or espresso cups. Please note that square jars are not suitable for candle making as the wax will not melt correctly.
Please also bring an apron if you have one and a tray or box to carry your candles home.
You will transform your containers into beautiful candle holders. Four or five items would be sufficient for the workshop.
There are no additional costs anticipated.
