What are the entry requirements?
This course is suitable for all learners wishing to learn some royal icing skills and to use these to make decorations for a cake.
What does this programme involve?
The course will enable learners to gain skills in:-
- Runouts made with royal icing
- Pressure piping skills
- Piping shells
The main proportion of the course will cover various royal icing piping skills and these skills will be used to make a cake project.
A college certificate will be awarded on request.
How is the programme taught and assessed?
Learners will be taught by practical application and demonstrations by the tutor.
What else do I need to know?
Learners will need the following resources to participate in the course:
- Plain icing tubes numbers 1 and 1.5 (make P.J.E. or Beckenal)
- Star icing tubes number 43 (make P.M.E or Beckenal)
- 2 x 12'' Square boards for runouts, silver or black
Other materials will be discussed with learners during the term.
Learners are responsible for the purchase of materials relevant to the course.
A small weekly charge will be made to cover the cost of the icing and materials supplied by the tutor.
