What will I be learning?
On this course we will be looking at a range of dishes from various areas of the Eastern countries of the world, using a wide range of spices and techniques to create flavoursome enticing ingredients.
A selection of dishes covered include Mee Goreng and Satay Sauce from Malaysia, Olive Flatbread and Falafels from the Middle East, and Gimbap Sushi from Korea.
All the classes are conducted in a relaxed and friendly manner.
Ingredients can be supplied if required at a cost of £48 per course (£8 per lesson).
The aim of the course is to have a better knowledge about quality ingredients and be familiar with a range of techniques used in Eastern cookery.
A college certificate will be awarded on request.
Why is this course for me?
At the beginning of the course you will be provided with a booklet giving recipes and ingredients. Each week the lecturer will demonstrate the dishes and you will then cook the dishes yourself with any support needed. You will of course then have your fantastic food to take home!
What do I need to sign up?
There are no formal entry requirements for this course.
Is there anything else I need to know?
This course is suitable for all, though some cooking experience would be beneficial.
Please bring along a pen and paper, a suitable knife, and a lidded container to take home your food.
Students will be responsible for the purchase of materials relevant to the course.
Ingredients need to be purchased by students in advance of lesson from list provided. Alternatively, students may pay the tutor for these.
