What career opportunities can this lead to?

This is an informal course, on which students will learn to increase their own skills in making chocolates. Students can progress to the Intermediate and Advanced courses.

What are the entry requirements?

There are no special entry requirements; this course is suitable for beginners and those wishing to update their chocolate skills.

What does this programme involve?

You will gain skills in using various types of chocolate to produce a variety of small decorative pieces and simple chocolates.

This course is a basic introduction into the handling of chocolate including basic tempering.

How is the programme taught and assessed?

This is a hands on course. Students will be taught by a mixture of demonstration, hand-outs and practical sessions.

What else do I need to know?

Please bring a notebook and pen to the first class. Equipment needed will include a chef's apron, palette knives and food thermometer. Certain other specialist equipment may be necessary. The tutor will advise further.

The tutor can provide all the ingredients for you to make your chocolate items. A small weekly contribution for this of 5.00 is payable directly to the tutor. All chocolate items made on the evening can be taken home for you to enjoy.
