What will I be learning?
You will learn how to make delicious baked bread, using the basic techniques of bread making.
We will take you through all the steps of bread baking, what to look out for when you knead and prove your dough, and simple tips and tricks so that your bread baking will be a success.
The day will cover various mixing and kneading techniques of the dough, and shaping and baking of the loaves.
Breads on the day may include a white loaf and bread rolls, then more exciting ingredients to make Chelsea Buns and Soda Bread. You can choose from many varieties of flours, such as wholemeal, malt or rye.
A college certificate will be provided on request.
Why is this course for me?
Students will learn through demonstration and hands on teaching, with some recipes for you to take home and try.
What do I need to sign up?
There are no formal requirements necessary to join this course.
Is there anything else I need to know?
If you have always wanted to make delicious home baked bread but never had the courage to try, then this is the class for you. This one day introduction is suitable for anyone wishing to learn the skills of bread making at home.
Please bring an apron and appropriate containers to take your products home.
Learners are responsible for the purchase of ingredients relevant to the course.
Ingredients for a basic loaf, which you will make at the start of the lesson, will be provided. You will then have the opportunity to make further bread items of your choice, for which you will need to provide the additional ingredients, i.e. alternative flour, flavourings, seeds, etc.
Further information regarding specific ingredients to bring to the workshop will be provided nearer the start date of your course.
