What are the entry requirements?

This course is suitable for a complete beginner who wishes to learn how to build their own website/blog using Wordpress. However, students will need to have IT skills in order to use the software provided.

What does this programme involve?

The course offers step by step instruction for creating appealing website pages using Wordpress, using both pre-designed pages, or designing your own.

You will learn how to:

- decide on the right website for you
- create a website with several pages
- choose text style, colour and size
- choose background colour for pages
- set up a contents management system
- design a theme or choose a pre-designed theme
- configure your site using widgets
- accessorise the site with plug ins
- configure a template with Cascading Style Sheets (CSS)
- add graphics and videos

A college certificate will be available on request.

How is the programme taught and assessed?

The course will be taught by demonstration using the data projector, and one to one coaching. Extra tuition will be given where needed. This course is primarily hands on learning.

What else do I need to know?

Please bring pen and paper/notebook to the class.

Students are responsible for the purchase of materials relevant to the course. However WordPress is free to use, at least for simple webpages.
