What are the entry requirements?

This course is suitable for anyone who has a Level 1 Certificate. If a student does not hold this qualification, they must be assessed by the tutor before undertaking the course to ensure it is the correct course for them.

What does this programme involve?

The syllabus teaches the accounting process from trial balance to extended trial balance covering year-end adjustments to balance sheet. It covers revenue versus capital expenditure, double-entry bookkeeping for depreciation of fixed assets, bad and doubtful debts, accruals and prepayments and control accounts, extended trial balance, and journal correction of errors and omissions.

This is a City and Guilds accredited qualification. There is a 2 hour exam at the end of the course, which is externally assessed. If successful, students will gain a City and Guilds 8991 Level 2 Certificate Bookkeeping and Accounting.

The exam is scheduled to take place on Tuesday 3 July 2018 but this will be confirmed during your course.

How is the programme taught and assessed?

The course involves practical work supported by tutor led theory sessions and guidance for skills development.

What else do I need to know?

The course is suitable for anyone who has undertaken the Level 1 Certificate or who has the underpinning knowledge required.
Students are responsible for the purchase of materials relevant to the course.

Please bring A4 lined paper, pen, pencil, ruler, and a calculator to every class.

Students are required to purchase the following books to fully participate in the course: City and Guilds Level 2 Book-keeping and Accounts Practical Workbook, by Christopher Zarzecki, 14.99, and Practical Workbook Solutions Manual - Book-keeping and Accounts Level 2, 4.99, by Christopher Zarzecki. Please ensure that the PAPERBACK version is purchased. Both are available from www.lulu.com - search for ''Zarzecki''. All prices are subject to change and exclude postage costs.
