Have a question?

It's often better to see what we do and seek answers from tutors!
Why not come along to one of our Open Evenings?

What career opportunities can this lead to?

Students can progress to the C&G 8991 Book Keeping & Accounts Level 2 currently offered at Eastleigh College. Students may also wish to work as an Industry Bookkeeper.

What are the entry requirements?

There are no formal entry requirements for this course. This course is suitable for beginners, for those students who are wishing to gain a qualification in Manual Book Keeping & Accounting.

What does this programme involve?

The syllabus teaches the accounting process from source documents to trial balance. It covers source documents, day books, cash books, the double-entry bookkeeping system, sales and purchases control ledgers, some VAT, bank reconciliation, petty cash imprest system and trial balance.

This is a City and Guilds accredited qualification. There is a 1.5 hour exam at the end of the course, which is externally assessed. If successful, students will gain a City and Guilds 8991 Level 1 Certificate Bookkeeping and Accounting.

The provisional date for the exam is Tuesday 5 February 2019. This will be confirmed during your course.

How is the programme taught and assessed?

The tutor will teach the theoretical aspects of the course, students will then be given ample time to practice the required skills and techniques.

What else do I need to know?

Please bring A4 lined paper, pen, pencil, ruler and a calculator to every class.
