We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic carpentry apprentice to join our skilled team. As a carpentry apprentice, you will be trained and mentored in the art of carpentry, developing essential skills to become a proficient carpenter. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to kickstart their career in the construction industry and gain hands-on experience. Responsibilities:

  • Assist senior carpenters with various tasks, including measuring, cutting and shaping wood or other materials.
  • Learn to use and maintain carpentry tools and equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Support in the assembly, installation and repair of wooden structures and fixtures
  • Follow blueprints, sketches and design plans to complete carpentry projects accurately.
  • Gain knowledge of different types of wood and materials used in carpentry.
  • Develop an understanding of building codes, safety regulations and best practices in carpentry.
  • Gain general building skills.
  • Maintain a clean and organised work area to ensure a safe and efficient work environment.
  • Collaborate with the team to ensure projects are completed on time and meet quality standards.
  • Demonstrate a positive attitude, eagerness to learn and a strong work ethic.

Requirements

  • 4 GCSEs at grade D/3 or higher, including English and Maths or have achieved a relevant Level 1 vocational qualification.
  • Passion for carpentry and a desire to learn and grow in the field.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work well in a team environment.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in measuring and cutting materials.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to ask questions and seek guidance when needed.
  • Local to Eastleigh College or within good transport links to Eastleigh
  • Basic maths skills for measurements and calculations
  • Previous experience or knowledge in carpentry is a plus but not required.
  • Ability to work well with others.
  • Reliability and excellent time keeping is essential.
