Interview Date: There will be an initial shortlisting process followed by a Microsoft teams informal interview during May 2023. There will then be a face-to-face interview and group exercise for the final shortlisted candidates. There may be testing involving games and puzzles.
The Role:
We are looking for degree apprentice building services design engineers. The work will include assisting engineers and contract administrators (architects and building surveyors) with site surveys, building services engineering design and contract documentation and administration.
You will assist in the development of designs and production of drawings, helping to design the various installations found in buildings which typically include systems such as heating, ventilation, air conditioning, lighting, power, controls and lifts. Sustainability is a key consideration in everything we do.
You will be trained in the use of software engineering tools such as AutoCAD (2D Drawings) and Revit (3D Drawings) to ensure you have a full set of design skills.

Apprenticeship Information
Typically, an engineering apprentice will work 5 days per week with 4 days in the workplace and 1 day at university during term time. The one day a week at university during term time will be provided by either London South Bank University or The University of the West of England, Bristol.
As part of your university course, you will need to complete assessments and exams, undertake continuing professional development to expand your skills and knowledge and be willing to research and read around topics.
We will provide support with internal development opportunities to help you develop your professional and technical skills to help you successfully achieve your apprenticeship. We are fortunate to be a multi-disciplinary practice with the full range of experience so you will have both young professionals on a similar journey up to experienced practitioners who will mentor you.
On completion of the Level 6 Building Services Design Engineering Apprenticeship, you will be degree qualified, have several years project experience and be able to progress your professional qualifications to become a Chartered Engineer CEng. Engineers follow the industry professional route set out by CIBSE which takes them through from Apprentice, Graduate, Engineer and Senior Engineer onwards.
Qualifications Required
- A Level BBC - Must include Mathematics and preferably a Science in either Chemistry or Physics (UCAS points: 112)
- T-level (Merit or above) in Construction: Design, Surveying and Planning. (UCAS points: 120)
- BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma DDM in an Engineering subject area, with a minimum of merit in Mathematics and advanced Mathematics. (UCAS points: 128)
- Building Services Engineering Technician level 3 apprenticeship DD (UCAS points: 96) alongside grade Pass or Distinction at EPA
- Access to Engineering qualifications with 15 Distinctions and 30 Merits including Maths and Physical Science credit
- Applicants must hold 5 GCSEs A-C including Maths and English or equivalent (reformed GCSEs grade 4 or above).

Additional Information:
To be eligible to work in the UK and not in full-time education when the apprenticeship commences.
You must not hold an existing qualification at the same or higher level in a similar subject (e.g. a degree or masters in a similar subject) .
