What do you offer?

For school leavers Eastleigh College specialises in practical, highly respected qualifications that combine the classroom theory and hands-on learning that employers value. This is offered within a classroom setting (Full-Time), or via a mix of paid work and classroom learning (Apprenticeship). For more information on the types of courses available please click here.

Where is the college?

We are located on Chestnut Avenue in Eastleigh, which is easily accessible from all road and rail routes in and out of Hampshire. 

Do you do A-Levels? 

We do not offer A-Levels, however we do offer an extensive range of Level 3 courses, which are equivalent to 3x A-Levels. In addition to learners normal studies, these courses also offer a range of additional benefits, which include work-experience, industry exposure and transferrable skills.

Can a vocational qualification get me into university?

Yes! Progression depends on the course you choose, the level, and the goals you wish to achieve. Many of the courses on offer qualify for UCAS points which you need in order to study Higher Education at university.

Other progression opportunities may include further training, apprenticeships, or employment. You will find details of possible progression clearly stated on the individual course information pages.

What is an Apprenticeship?

An Apprenticeship is a fixed term job, with an accompanying skills development programme, which has been designed by employers in the sector that the Apprenticeship relates to.

What are professional and technical courses?

Professional and technical courses have been developed in partnership with employers, in order to ensure that students learn the skills that are relevant for their industry. This type of study allows students to learn the technical and professional skills which will prove to employers that they are work-ready.

Do you have a travel bursary?

We have a variety of bursary’s available to eligible students, including help with travel costs.

Is there an application deadline?

We do not have a set application deadline, however we do suggest that if you are applying for a course starting next September, ideally you should submit your application between September and December of the year before. This will ensure you are able to attend admissions interviews and that you have the best chance of securing your first choice of course.

What happens next?

When we have received your application we will contact you by email to invite you to an interview. 

The interview usually lasts no longer than one hour. Some courses may ask you to bring a portfolio of work, or a written personal statement about why you wish to pursue a career in your chosen industry. It is also useful if you bring along your most recent school report and predicted grades.

Where can I find more information?

Come and meet the team at Eastleigh College at our Open Events and Taster Days. We also visit lots of school careers events and parents evenings across Hampshire, so do come and see us when we visit your school, as we are always happy to answer your questions. 

Can you apply for more than one course?

Yes, if you have not made a decision on what course you would like to study you may list more than one on your application form. We have a careers adviser at the college, who will be more than happy to go through your choices with you. 

What size are the classes?

Most classes are between 12 and 25 students.

What will my timetable look like? 

Your timetable will be quite different from school. Depending on the course you choose, you could be in college between two and five days per week (approximately 16 hours, including work experience and other college related activities).

How can I tell you about any learning difficulty/disability I have?

You can tell us about any learning difficulties/disabilities or support needs on the College application form. There will be an opportunity to discuss your needs with a tutor at interview and you will then be contacted by a member of the Additional Learning Support Team when you start College, if not before. If you prefer, you can contact the Additional Learning Support Team directly on 023 8091 1210 to discuss your needs.

Can I talk to someone confidentially?

Students can talk to staff in confidence, but we may ask you to allow us to share this information with others to ensure that the right support mechanisms are put in place for you. It is also not possible to keep confidentiality where the matter involves significant illegal activity or activity which can put you or others in danger.

Do you offer Work Related Experience?

All students at Eastleigh College are encouraged to undertake related work placements and participate in employability workshops as part of their course. For more information please email
Our aim is to get students ready for the 'real' world of work. We have a virtual jobs board and suggest learners look at if they are interested in volunteering.
