Originally set to study a course in Hair and Beauty, Jade decided that a full-time Motor Vehicle course was more suited to her interests and personality.

Having always had an interest in cars and the aesthetics of cars, Jade chose to take a chance and change to a course that she believed she would really enjoy despite its stereotype of being a male-dominated industry.

After hearing positive reviews of Eastleigh College, Jade decided to visit one of our Open Events, and explained that it was the welcoming, friendly and professional environment that had her sold on the Level 2 Motor Vehicle course, which has helped her get that one step closer to achieving her dream job.

Right from start, Jade felt fully supported by her tutors who were approachable, helpful and always there to guide with a hands-on learning approach.

Jade commented, “Matt, my tutor, has been such a great help in advising me on the industry, helping me find job vacancies and guiding me through the application process”.

As a result, Jade has recently found out that she has been successful in securing an apprenticeship with Immaculate Detailing in Segensworth, an opportunity she is excited to begin later on this year.

Jade’s work experience as a ‘vehicle wrapper’ at Amigo Wraps in Southampton and the access to industry-standard facilities in the workshop, has not only helped Jade to build her confidence but also taught her the relevant skills necessary for a future in the trade.

She tells us, “Work experience provided me with a huge confidence boost; it gave me a chance to practice the skills I‘ve already learnt at College, while also allowing me to experience what a career in this sector is really like”.

As well as gaining the practical experience for industry, Jade’s Mathematical and English skills have also significantly helped Jade when it comes to the theory side of Motor Vehicle Mechanics.

Jade recommends the Motor Vehicle course at Eastleigh College to anyone with an interest in cars and provided these tips when asked:

“Be open minded, have confidence in yourself, and don’t give up on the first attempt. The course was nothing like I expected it to be, and with the support of the tutors around you, have the courage to trust yourself and get things wrong. I often did at first, but I learnt from it, and now I use those skills everyday”.

"The best thing about Eastleigh College is the support and help you get here. You get so much guidance in Motor Vehicle and everyone is so friendly and helpful."

Having found what she enjoys most, due to the fact that Jade’s course has allowed her to explore many different aspects of the Motor Vehicle industry, Jade is excited and looking forward to the future as she starts her new career in car detailing.

There are many routes to train in the Motor Vehicle industry, from Apprenticeships to full-time and part-time courses.
