What opportunities will this course give me?
This qualification will link workplace practice with the knowledge to become a qualified Teaching Assistant, Specialist Support Assistant or Learning Support Assistant.
What will I be learning?
You will learn how pupils learn and develop, the use of technology to support learning, working with teachers to support assessment, knowledge of the appropriate curriculum, how to keep children safe in education, develop strategies to support independent learning, build relationships and embrace change, add value to education, promote equality, diversity and inclusion, ensure professional standards and personal accountability and how to work in a team. Learners wills be required to complete all eleven knowledge, skills and behaviour based modules.

Why is this course for me?
This course will build the confidence, competence and knowledge to support the class teacher and enhance pupils' learning either in groups or individually.
A variety of teaching methods will be used including whole class, group work, team work, pair work, discussions, exercises, and handouts.
How will my learning be enhanced?
As part of your qualification you will need to complete 20% off the job training which is supported by your employer, this is a mandatory part of your course in order to gain your qualification.

What do I need to sign up?
If you have math and English at GCSE C grade or above or the equivalent you may be exempt from having to complete these alongside the apprenticeship. Certificates or proof on your personal learning record will be required to exempt you.
Is there anything else I need to know?
You will be required to attend a master class once per month for five hours in college and a remote one hour lesson once per week in between. This will contribute to off the job hours required for this course.
You will need a workplace mentor to support you in the workplace.
You must be employed by a school or taken on as an apprentice working for a minimum of 16 hours per week to qualify for the apprenticeship funding route. Employers will qualify for an incentive payment if they take on a new apprentice.
Duration: typically 18 months plus End Point Assessment time.
