What opportunities will this course give me?
The NVQ should enable students to go straight into the second year of some construction degree courses. Alternatively if you decide to continue in employment, your NVQ will open up a range of opportunities. This NVQ qualification also provides entry to many higher level professional qualifications in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Building Surveying, Property Management and Architectural Design. There is also an opportunity to progress to HND level 5 through a further 2 years of study.
What will I be learning?
The content of the course is broad based and covers most standard aspects of building including:
Design Principles & Applications
Science & Materials
Management Principles & Applications
Health, Safety &Welfare
Individual Student Project
Site Surveying Procedures
Why is this course for me?
All course assessments are carried out through a series of assignments, these are marked by your college assessor, via your online portfolio on Onefile and via visits to your workplace. This wide coverage of building subjects will allow you to have a better understanding of all aspects of building from design and costing, to contract and construction. The course is focused on the specific needs of the 'contracting' industry and will provide students with the requisite knowledge, concepts, techniques and skills to enable them to effectively fulfil their existing and future managerial responsibilities.
How will my learning be enhanced?
The nature of this course allows a flexible approach to study whilst still retaining the support of your individual assessor.
What do I need to sign up?
You must be a minimum age of 18.
Have a good standard of literacy and IT skills.
Appropriate attainment on a previous course of study, eg.

Is there anything else I need to know?
The course has flexible start dates (i.e individuals can sign up at any time throughout the year). There are no classes to be held in college.
As there is no requirement to attend college and the course is run one to one, the course will definitely run as it is not subject to minimum numbers. The team will be in touch to discuss this with you, once your application has been processed.
