What opportunities will this course give me?

On completion of this course you may be able to progress onto the IMI Level 3 Diploma.

What will I be learning?

You will study the following units:
- Contribute to Workplace Good Housekeeping
- Ensure Your Own Actions Reduce Risks to Health and Safety
- Maintain Positive Working Relationships
- Carry Out Routine Light Vehicle Maintenance
- Remove and Replace Light Vehicle Engine Units and Components
- Remove and Replace Light Vehicle Auxiliary Electrical Units and Components
- Remove and Replace Light Vehicle Chassis Units and Components
- Remove and Replace Light Vehicle Transmission and Driveline Units and Components You will learn and develop your skills through a mixture of lessons, demonstrations, assignments and practical tasks in the college workshops and classrooms.

You will be assessed through a combination of:
- Written phase tests
- External on line testing
- Key skills assessments will also take place in Communication, Application of Number and IT

You will be guided to produce a portfolio of evidence to show your competence and understanding of the qualification and skills. - Appreciation of health and safety in the workshop
- Removal and replacing of light engine units and components

Is there anything else I need to know?

This course is suitable for candidates that have completed a Level One Award or a Foundation Diploma, or have suitable motor vehicle experience. This qualification has been designed primarily for candidates who:
- Are undertaking an ASL apprenticeship with a technical certificate requirement
- Wish to develop occupational knowledge of the motor industry
- Need to show that they have achieved the independent knowledge assessment of the related NVQ
- Do not have access to an NVQ but want to achieve a nationally recognised qualification

In addition to this, candidates must have GCSE grade C or above in Maths and English, and an IT qualification. Candidates will be required to undertake BKSB Maths assessment and attend a formal interview.

A pen and a lever arch A4 file. You will also need to provide suitable overalls and safety boots. These must ALWAYS be worn during practical activities in the workshops to ensure safety is maintained.
