What career opportunities can this lead to?

Learners who are employed and have any of the following duties: securing the site, setting up rooms for events, assist with cleaning, site emergency and evacuation procedures, porterage, carrying out minor maintenance repairs, reading energy meters and using the intelligent BMS to control heating and ventilation. Facilities Services allows learners to learn, develop and practice the skills required for employment and/or career progression in the facilities sector.

It is ideal for learners who want to learn and gain a broad understanding about the facilities and services industry, and covers subjects such as:

-Routine and non-routine waste
-Moving and transport
-Safety and security
-Develop customer relationships

What are the entry requirements?

This qualification is assessed in the work place. Therefore, you should be carrying out the type of work involved in this qualification, or expect to carry it out in the future.

What does this programme involve?

Learners will be required to complete four mandatory units:
-Reduce risks to health and safety in the workplace
-Promote and maintain service delivery
-Contribute to the effectiveness and efficiency of premises and facilities
-Develop customer relationships

Then choose from a wide variety of optional units to gain the full qualification.

This is a work based qualification completed fully in the workplace. Learners will be visited in their workplace by an Assessor, who will assess them using observation, discussion, portfolio work, and witness statements.

-Maintain a safe, hygienic and secure working environment.
-Maintain food safety when storing, preparing and cooking food.
-Work effectively as part of a hospitality team.

How is the programme taught and assessed?

Once you have enrolled onto the programme you will be assigned an assessor that will visit you in the workplace regularly. They will complete assessment plans and reviews with you to keep you on target. Assessors will support you in the collection of the required evidence needed for your qualification through different assessment methods such as; professional discussions, observations, written questions, verbal questions witness statements and any assignments.

What else do I need to know?

The Government are currently in the process of changing the information that you learn on this course, therefore it is likely that some of the unit information shown above will change before the course starts. All applicants will be sent the new course information as soon as it is released.

How do I apply?

If you are hoping to undertake a workbased apprenticeship, please be aware that you will need to be employed in a relevant role in industry and your employer must agree to your training.
