What opportunities will this course give me?

This course will give you the skills and knowledge to work with clients with a number of medical conditions. This will enable you to work an an exercise referral instructor and you can then go onto specialise with specific medical conditions at Level 4. At Level 4 you can gain qualifications such as working with clients with diabetes or lower back pain.

What will I be learning?

This exercise referral course is designed to support exercise professionals implement exercise strategies for clients with chronic illnesses and conditions.

Learners will cover:

Professional practice for exercise referral instructors
Planning exercise referral programmes with patients
Understanding medical conditions for exercise referral
Instructing exercise with referred patients

Learners will also be able to plan and deliver, safe and effective exercise programmes for individuals with specific medical conditions.

This course is a mixture of weekly face to face classes held at Eastleigh College and a substantial amount of home study included. Assessment will include internally assessed workbooks and observation of practical activity. You will be assessed on your knowledge and instructing skills.

What do I need to sign up?

You must hold a Level 3 Personal Training qualification or equivalent to enrol onto this course including anatomy and physiology for exercise and health and applying the principles of nutrition to a physical activity programme.

Is there anything else I need to know?

This course may also be referred to as GP referral

Pens, paper, suitable clothing for practical sessions and a drink. Please also share a copy of the level 3 PT certificate on enrolment.
