If youre passionate about pursuing a vibrant career in events, the full-time Event Management, Level 3, course could be for you. The UK is the 6th largest economy in the world. The sector employs over 570 million people within different types of businesses and organisations. The sector is worth 42.3 billion pounds and since 2015 the event industry has increased by 83%. There are now many opportunities for entrepreneurs and employees with a sound understanding of finance, marketing, sales and management, all of which are covered on Level 3 Media, Marketing and Event Management.

The course is a fantastic springboard into roles such as Property Management, Events Organiser, Customer Relations, Wedding Coordinator, Retail Management and Marketing Coordinator.
Future career and progression routes can be into accountancy, marketing, human resources, logistics, law, administration and event management. Students could advance on to specific courses related to areas of interest or directly into industry. On completion of this programme, up to 168 UCAS points can be gained for entrance into Higher Education. Salary earnings can range from 21,000 per year working as an Event Organiser to in excess of 100,000 per year working as an Entrepreneur.
This qualification was set up to address the need for enterprise at level 3 as identified by the Department of Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform (BERR) in Enterprise: Unlocking the UKs Talent (March 2008).
What will I be learning?
This programme is ideally suited for those with a genuine interest in business enterprise and event management, but who also have the ability and determination to succeed on this academic programme. There is an expectation for all business enterprise and event management students to help out at college open events, fundraising opportunities, both at the college and external client based events.
This programme provides students with an opportunity to gain an insight into the wide and diverse nature of this growing sector. The programme retains a strong academic base, whilst including practical units and modules. You will need to be confident, self- motivated and a good communicator as this will stand you in good stead for your research work as well as your work placement.
You will complete projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands. You will also learn about the employment area you have chosen, and you develop the skills you need to start a career.
Students will develop both knowledge and understanding of the business enterprise and event management industries, as well as develop important practical and organisational skills to support their progression.
The programme is made up of a variety of practical and theoretical units with each worth a number of credits which will make up your final grade. The programme is made up of 12 units. The following are a sample of the units (it may vary each year):
• Developing a Marketing Campaign
• Business and Personal Finance
• Recruitment and Selection
• Principles of Management
• Business Decision Making
• Marketing Communications
The full two year qualification is equivalent to three A Levels, which means that, on completion of the programme, you can either choose to go into employment or into Higher Education.
Students are expected to organise, with our help, a relevant work placement each year. In addition to this, they are expected to help voluntarily at college enrichment events around the college and with the local community.
This two year programme offers progression from the Diploma through to the Extended Diploma, dependent on your entry grades and achievement in year one.
Our Event Management course places you straight in the midst of realistic workplace situations, activities and demands; you will finish with an in-depth knowledge of what it takes to succeed in the industry.

You will gain a full spectrum of industry knowledge, as well as the vital skills needed to excel within any workplace.
The course is broken down into relevant units to enhance your learning, including effective planning and pitching, the benefits of social enterprise campaigns and the many layers of event planning.
You can expect to run 10 events per year within the course, growing your confidence and enriching your experience.
Plus, youll walk away with vital skills such as self-management, business and customer awareness, team-working and problem solving; these are key attributes in all areas of employment.
Most units in this sector are internally assessed with the use of assignments and practical observation to provide the final summative assessment for each unit. Four of these units are externally assessed, with written exams, case and research study over two years.
Assessment is throughout the year for both practical and theory units using a variety of assessment methods and styles. Each assignment will be graded at Pass (P), Merit (M) or Distinction (D) level and contributes to the unit and overall programme grades, which could be PPP MMM, DDD for each A Level equivalent, or a mixed profile, e.g. PMM etc.
Each of the units will have between three to five assignments. These assignments may be reports, presentations, practical assessments or research projects. Attendance in the College is an average of 11 hours per week of contact time. In addition to this, it is expected for students to complete a further 8-12 hours of independent study both in college and at home.

We make sure that your experience is as streamlined and efficient as possible; you'll find Google classroom, Photoshop and Adobe programmes and social media support implemented within the course.
Plus, youll leave with thorough ACT training and a Food Hygiene Level 2 qualification.

What do I need to sign up?
You will need 5 GCSEs at Grade 9-4 including English Language and mathematics.
You will require an interview with subject specialist staff to ensure you have a good understanding of the course you are applying for. Attendance and attainment reports from previous education will also be required.
For internal progression it is expected that you will have achieved a minimum of a merit at L2 and made positive progress to achieving your GCSE English and Maths (if below Grade 4) as well as demonstrating that you have upheld the college values.
Adult learners may apply for any of our full time and apprenticeship programmes and your vocational experience will also be taken into consideration alongside existing qualifications.
The programme is fully funded for learners aged 16-18.
For learners aged 19+ the price is upon application only, and after receiving information, advice & guidance.
This two year programme offers progression from the Subsidiary Diploma through to the Extended Diploma, dependent on your entry grades and achievement in Year One.
Is there anything else I need to know?
The programme offers the dedicated learner a wealth of opportunities and experiences. Learners must be prepared to apply academic as well as practical skills. Learners are encouraged to take a full and active part in college life.
All learners enrolled on a full-time study programme are expected to attend a compulsory work or industry placement during their course. The number of hours of placement will vary from 35 hours through to 750 hours, this variance is due to the differing types of assessment on each course.
Learners should be aware that this is compulsory part of their study programme and work / industry placements will take place during the college week.
