This programme is for students who are currently not in Education, Employment or training. This course has a later start and is available to learners wanting to change courses mid-year and wishing to study a vocational qualification, or extend their vocational knowledge in business, enterprise and event management.
The UK is the 6th largest economy in the world. The sector employs over 29 million people within many different types of businesses and organisations. Following the financial problems and economic downturn of 2008, businesses have had to adapt. There are now many opportunities for entrepreneurs and employees with a sound understanding of finance, marketing, sales and management, all of which are covered on Level 3 Business Enterprise and Event Management.
This programme aims to develop skills such as self- management, business and customer awareness, team-working and problem-solving. These are seen as key attributes that employers look for in potential employees.
Future career and progression routes can be into accountancy, marketing, human resources, logistics, law and administration. Students could advance on to specific courses related to areas of interest or directly into industry. Salary earnings can range from 16,000 per year working as an Event Organiser to in the excess of 100,000 per year working as an Entrepreneur.
Entry requirements will be discussed at interview.
You need to be a good communicator, adaptable, flexible and willing to develop the skills needed to succeed in industry. Additionally, you should have good attendance and attainment reports from a previous school or college.

You will follow a programme that enhances your subject knowledge and increases your employability. This programme is ideally suited for those with an interest in business, enterprise and event management or those who are undecided about what to study next but who have the ability and determination to succeed.
This programme will provide you with an opportunity to gain an insight into the wide and diverse nature of this growing sector. You will develop your confidence, self- motivation and communication.
You will complete projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands and learn about the employment area you have chosen, growing the skills you need to start a career.
With our help, all students are expected to organise a relevant work placement each year. In addition to this, you are expected to help voluntarily at college enrichment events around the college and with local business and charity events.
All students without an A*-C / 9-4 grade (or equivalent) in English or Maths will be required, as a condition of the programme, to undertake either a GCSE or Functional Skills programme.
Throughout the year assessment for both the practical and theory Business units is undertaken using a variety of assessment methods and styles. Assessments may be reports, presentations, practical assessments, worksheets or projects.
Attendance in the College is an average of 16 hours per week of contact time, in addition to this it is expected for students to complete a further 8-12 hours of independent study both in college and at home.
Students will gain an insight into the career prospects within the sector and this will be enriched by Industry Week, trips, visits and guest speakers.
If you are aged 16-18 the programme is fully funded. If you are aged 19+, fees may apply.
